Yucatec Maya Sign Language - Yucatec Maya Sign Language is used in the Yucatán region in Mexico by both hearing and deaf members of a number of traditional Mayan communities with unusually high numbers of deaf inhabitants. It is a natural complex language, which is not related to Mexican Sign Language, but may have similarities with sign languages found in nearby Guatemala.
Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language - The Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language (ABSL) is a sign language used by about 150 deaf and many hearing members of a Bedouin community in the Negev desert of southern Israel. As both deaf and hearing people share a language, Deaf people are not stigmatised in this community, and marriage between deaf and hearing people is common.
Sign of the cross - The Sign of the Cross is a ritual performed mainly within Latin-Rite Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and the Oriental Orthodox, as well as Eastern-Rite Catholicism, Anglicanism, and Lutheranism. For the members of the Faith, it symbolizes by manifestly marking directly on one's own body or in the air, the four points of the Cross on Calvary.
The Hot Band - In 1974 Warner Brothers records agreed to sign Emmylou Harris to a recording deal and asked her to "get a hot band", which she did by persuading James Burton, Glen Hardin, John Ware, Rodney Crowell, Hank de Vito and Emory Gordy to form The Hot Band. Though the members changed over the following decades (due largely to various members achieving fame and embarking on solo careers), Harris kept the band together into the early 1990s.
